Metro United Membership,
Metro United was established in 2019 with the goal of creating and providing the best environment for female athletes. Over the past three years the organization has built a solid reputation for helping players develop, compete, and take their next steps forward in the game. From the Development Academy to the Girls Academy we have retained consistent standards that put the player, their performance, and their long term development first. Players develop at different rates, at different times and need different things – we have designed and implemented a program that reflects that while competing at the highest levels of youth soccer.
This is the time to move forward as an organization and do so in a meaningful way that will truly affect what we can provide for our players. We are excited to announce that Metro United will be joining Alexandria Soccer Association effective July 1st, 2022. As a founding member of the Girls Academy League, we will continue to compete in the GA and will compete as Metro ASA GA to reflect our new home. This is the result of a considerable amount of thought and reflection and has not been arrived at lightly. We are excited to take this big step forward and as the third largest club in Virginia, ASA is uniquely positioned to provide a springboard for our shared goals and aspirations.
We have grown as an organization thanks to the support of our members and their willingness to entrust their time and their children’s time to our care and our staff who have devoted an immense amount of themselves to help make this what it is. We want to thank Great Falls – Reston and specifically Rich Shelton for their support over the last three years. They provided a home for our players to train, compete, and develop. It has been a journey, a very rewarding one, and it has taken all of us to get here.
We will be holding ID sessions over the next two weeks. These ID sessions serve to introduce our player pools as we begin to form rosters for the 2022-2023 season. We encourage our players and families to use the ID sessions as an opportunity to test the drive, come and see the facilities, meet the player pools, and see the potential. The ID session schedule is listed below and will be hosted at ASA.
This move puts Metro United on a solid foundation and will allow us to continue to grow and develop as an organization. We are committed to creating the best environment for our players and we are excited about what the future holds for Metro ASA.

“The accent today is on results, not on how well you work. You can’t build a skyscraper in a day, but you can build a shack.”- Arrigo Sacchi, AC Milan and Italy Manager
“Any structure must have a strong foundation. The cornerstones anchor the foundation. For some reason the cornerstones that I chose to begin with I never changed.” – John Wooden, UCLA Men’s Basketball Coach
